ABOUT ME
Hello, I am Shona, a 61 year old beginner runner who has decided after running a few very slow half marathons, that I am going to take on the challenge of a full marathon! I did vow after a very hard half marathon that it was something I would absolutely never do, but here I am!
I have never run before in my life, in fact it was something I seriously avoided. After a health scare I decided it was time to change my life, lose some weight and time to get fit.
I started out by walking, for over a year, until I could not walk any faster! Then (with the encouragement on my super fast runner of a husband) I decided to give running a go. It was taken over a year, but I can now finally say I love running! It has changed my life in so many ways.
I love travelling and running in new places, I love meeting and making friends in the running community, I absolutely love encouraging other people, in particular older women, to give running a go and most of all I love how running makes me feel.
I feel healthy and happy and I know this will help ensure a healthy and happy old age.
I have been blessed to be have been offered a charity place with Victa UK to run for them in the London Marathon. I have a target of approx. $5000 Aud to reach and I'd love if you can donate if you are able or even just spread the word. I will be holding lots of fun events both online and in person so hope you can come along for some of those. My major fundraising event will be a virtual run so stayed tuned for further details.
